Ask about LangBistroI thought I would spend my career in research. It took medical school, Oxford, and a room full of scientists on stage to work out what I enjoyed most.
The thread through all of it?
People.
And what we can build together.
Medical school, with research as the plan. Alongside it, I co-founded Science Slam Samara: scientists explaining their work to 300-seat audiences. We ran the first all-Russian Science Slam with participants from 40 cities, and I coached 50+ scientists. The community started to matter to me more than the lab.
An MSc in Pharmacology sharpened my thinking—and clarified that research wasn’t my path. I wanted to build a company. First, I needed to learn how businesses worked.
At Betty Blocks, I learned business development and digital transformation, helped open the UK and Russian markets, and generated 150 senior leads in three days at Gartner IT Symposium.
After returning to doctoral research in Russia, I moved to the UK when the war in Ukraine began. At Open Medical, I managed projects across six NHS trusts, automated a skin-cancer pathway and led grant bids. Within six months, I became Senior Innovation Manager.
Antler was where the company-building became real: I found my co-founders, validated an idea in ten weeks and raised pre-seed funding.
As COO, then CEO of Laymune, I worked on healthcare for stigmatised conditions, then value-based care aligned with Vision 2030. We developed hospital pilots in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, raised a $100k angel round, and received initial approval for a 2M SAR grant.
A pivot brought us to football. As CEO of S3i, I led a seven-developer team building AI video analysis and player-development tools. We developed the prototype and signed five MOUs with professional and semi-professional clubs.
Now building Novum, LangBistro and OpCurri, writing on Substack and mentoring on ADPList. Still learning—and happy to share what the journey has taught me.
